Understand Sonara Pack licenses

A Sonara Pack license grants a usage right under defined terms; it does not transfer ownership of the artist’s copyright. The rules actually stored with the pack always remain the reference for that content.

License and copyright are different

Obtaining a license means receiving permission to use music within the scope defined by that license. The artist remains the rights holder for the work and recording; the user does not become the owner of the original music.

What the standard license can allow

The Sonara standard system notably provides for personal and commercial projects, monetization, social media, video and film, advertising, games and apps, podcasts, live streaming, client work, sound editing and unlimited projects when these options remain enabled.

What the standard license prohibits

The standard system prohibits resale of the audio file on its own, redistribution, uploading it as a release on a music platform, registering it in a Content ID system, sublicensing and claiming to be the original author of the content.

Pack-specific terms

A pack can include additional permissions, restrictions or terms, and the artist can require credit. You should therefore always read the license displayed for the relevant pack before using it.

Current license scope

The license model stored by Sonara is non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide and perpetual. The license applies to the pack and its tracks according to the data retained by the system.

Pre-V1 and future V1

In Pre-V1, acquisition can be free when the current mode allows it. During future commercial operation, a payment will obtain the corresponding usage right; it will still not purchase the artist’s copyright.
